For a lot of people, Labor Day means two things, First one is a day off and second one is the end of summer but it is not the same. Labor Day is a day set to pay tribute to working men and women. In the United States, It has been celebrated as a national holiday . Labor Day has its significance.

labor day

Labor Day is celebrated as a creation of the labor movement and is totally dedicated to the social and economic achievements and honour for American Labors and workers. It is actually account for yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of country.

The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883 and in the year 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday.

In 1882, Matthew Maguire, a machinist, first proposed the holiday while serving as secretary of the Central Labor Union(CLU) of New York. Others argue that it was first proposed by Peter J. McGuire of the American Federation of Labor in May 1882.

The first Labor Day parade held on Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City. The workers unions chose the first Monday in September because it was halfway between Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

While many still turn out to hear Labor Day speeches and attend parades, the focus of the American worker has turned more to celebrating a day off with family.

Thus, Labor Day is very important as it is celebrated in glory and the achievements of workers and Labors.

Enjoy Labor Day.

Special Emerald Rings

Why Are Emerald Engagement Rings So Special

The four precious gems known to man – diamond, rubies, sapphires and emeralds, the last is the softest, hence often worn with diamonds to balance strength. Nevertheless, the emerald is considered more valuable when compared carat for carat with diamonds.

This infamous variety of beryl which is a vibrant verdant in color, is an all season stone which can brighten your mood is the deadest of winters. Associated closely with prosperity, harmonious living and balance, May’s birthstone has become a frequent visitor of the red carpet.

Interestingly, along with its associations with royalty and glamour, emerald has recently been a favorite of bridal jewelry – especially engagement rings. Its fresh new look as compared to the diamond, as well as its timeless color that makes you feel like spring is right around the corner adds the most interesting twist to the otherwise stately stone.

Emerald engagement rings of mainly two types exist – one where the gem replaces the diamond as the central solitaire and another where the solitaire diamond is retained, but is encircled by a ring of round or trillion cut emeralds, giving a gorgeous combination of grey and green, each complementing the other.

Emerald center stone rings are often flanked by smaller diamonds on either side – either a three stone or a five stone setting. The refreshing new look of emeralds worn by a bride-to-be, instead of the diamond that the industry has so successfully marketed as the wedding stone is one that most of us cherish. Adorned by celebrities like Halle Berry with style and confidence, emerald engagement rings have become a new age fashion statement.

Emerald Rings
The side stone ring is one that was a part of fashion in the early 1900’s, particularly the style with a central round cut diamond surrounded by a halo of emeralds. An addition of a second precious gem to the wedding bands gives you even more design options and combinations, adding color to your choice in style and setting.

Like all other gems, emeralds also have a deeper meaning – in specific emerald engagement rings. They are closely bound to the belief of loyalty, adoration and true love – many even believing that its changing color can warn you when your spouse is unfaithful and faltering.

The root of the meaning of emerald is ‘the green of growing things’, symbolizing a love that not only will last forever, but will continue to grow and strengthen as time passes. This precious stone has its ancestries in ancient cultures dating back to 4000 BC.

Its extraordinary representation of all things lovely is supplement by it being the sacred stone of Goddess Venus, and a metaphor for the preservation of love and hope alike.

Christened as the official color of 2013, though emerald seems to be a new trend in the market and in the hearts of buyers, its charm dates back to the times of Kennedy, who proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier with a 2.84 carat emerald ring. From it being Cleopatra’s favorite gem all the way to it reaching Hollywood through Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde, the emerald has marked its territory.

Believe what you want, but which ever page of the book you turn to, all fingers point towards the emerald as a special stone to present to the one you love!

Your Ring is Perfect Jewels to Express Love

Rings are most certainly the perfect jewels to express love – both as a symbol on your own finger as well as one you give to the one you love most in the world. It doesn’t always have to be the girl you want to spend the rest of your life with – there is nothing more special than buying your mother or sibling a stunning ring to express your undying love for them.

Tanzanite Ring

The origin of a ring itself is proof of its perfection. From five thousand years ago, dating back as far as the Egyptian civilization, rings were made of grass as the symbol for eternity – a circle being something with no beginning or end. The central hole was looked at as an opening to a new world or life with things known and unknown.

Even though it has been disproved by sentiments, wedding rings and engagement rings were worn on the fourth finger of the left hand as it was believed that a vein from this finger went to the heart – the vein of love. It may not be anatomically true but it’s the thought that counts right?

A ring is also the one piece of jewelry which is kept on most of the time – especially engagement rings or wedding rings. If it is picked right and suits your personality then there is very little need to take it off.

You can add an extra level of personalization by adding that perfect engraving of a line from a poem, a quote or even an inside joke that both of you share – every time she looks down at the ring it’ll bring a smile to her face!

Symbolism is not only in the band but in the gemstone too. Each gem has its own meaning and significance which makes the ring say so much more. Diamonds are forever and represent pure and perpetual love, garnets are for new beginnings and getting through hard times, emerald and peridots are for friendship and loyalty, Tanzanite rings are for balance and compassion and last but not the least moonstone and rubies are for passion and deep love. These are just a few of the gems out there, and much like choosing a card for a loved one’s birthday, each stone says something special and unique.

Imagine the beauty and significance of a ring that symbolizes eternity, has a stone with an underlying meaning paired with an engraving that you share with only that person; you could literally not go wrong!

Latest trends have seen the advent of rings for occasions besides engagements and weddings – promise rings and push rings being examples of the same. Shown off time and again on the red carpet push rings are a gift from a man to his baby-mother as an expression of love, gratification and loyalty for having given birth to their beautiful child. Queen Bey wears one with a large Tanzanite rock and there’s no doubt that you too can own the tradition and make the birth of a child a moment of even more joy!

So come on ladies and gentlemen, don’t hesitate to express your true passion and compassion for your loved ones with a special ring, nothing says ‘I love you forever’ like these do!
